The national park is residing in the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika; the national park offers a stunning natural view. The sense lush forest of the national park is one of the best forest mountain ranges of the continent.

Established in 1968 the national park offers great diversity in its vegetation. You can spot grassland, woodland, and tropical rainforest combined in Gombe National Park.

The national park acquires 13.5 square kilometers and gives the tourist an exclusive traveling feel with its remoteness. It takes you through the best of natural views including mountain, forest, and wildlife.

The national park captured the attraction of the world due to Dr. Jane Goodall who spent her life in the area researching the behavior of chimpanzees.

Dr.Goodall came to Tanzania in 1960 at the age of 26 without any formal college education. She falls in love with the chimps who behave almost like humans sharing 98% DNA of humans. At that time very little about Chimps was known. Dr. Goodall started her research on the chimp’s behavior and life. Eventually, with support from renowned anthropologist Louis Leakey Dr. Godall established a small research center for experimenting more on Chimpanzees. More than 50 years of her life she spent on research in Gombe National Park.

The national park is though well known for tracking chimps; it also offers an iconic opportunity to meet many primate species. You can explore olive baboons, red colobus, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, and vervet monkeys in Gombe National Park.

The national park also exposes a decent number of snake species. You can also meet hippos and leopards in the national park however, they are hard to spot.
